This is the May 2024 edition of the India Rivers Forum newsletter, and we’ve come to you with some interesting updates, opportunities and readings.
Opportunities & Updates
1. A supported program for practitioners to understand water quality in freshwater ecosystems
Members of the IRF OC - People’s Science Institute and India Rivers Forum, are co-hosting a supported program.
Practitioners from across India are invited to Dehradun for a 3 day training program - 28th May to 30th May 2024, for training on bio-monitoring for surface water quality assessment. This will help you understand freshwater systems around you.
Dates: 28th - 30th May

2. Online discussion on ‘Amba River - National Waterway 10’ report by Manthan Adhyayan Kendra
Members of the IRF OC - Manthan Adhyayan Kendra - followed up the release of their report: Cargo and Consequences: A Report on the Social and Environmental Implications of Shipping on Amba River – National Waterway 10 with an online discussion.

3. Yamuna Manthan (monthly compilations) from South Asia Network on Dams, Rivers and People (SANDRP) on River Yamuna

From our OC organisation SANDRP’s site:
Carrying forward the legacy of Yamuna conservation work done by Late Manoj Mishra, Convenor of Yamuna Jiye Abhiyan, SANDRP is publishing a compilation of news reports and other relevant information on contemporary issues related to Yamuna River from February 2024. This is the second such monthly report in the series and we will try to release same updates on the first Wednesday of every month.
The main purpose of the exercise is to monitor, document and research all the issues affecting the Yamuna rivers and riverine people so that all concerned may get updated information on ground realities of the river and its people. All of you are requested to read, share and give suggestions to improve it.
